NO TO SB3!!!

Hi all, we’re hearing that while we’re making great progress on getting office calls in on SB3, we need to massively step up our email game on SB 3 (20 week abortion ban), as House Republicans are getting tons of emails in support of SB3, and they’re tracking all of it (especially in the southeast). If anyone has any capacity to share this link with your email lists, we’d appreciate it! It’ll generate an email to their state rep telling them to vote NO on SB3.

The bill is slated to go for second consideration today and third consideration as soon as tomorrow, so we need immediate action on this!!

Winning isn’t enough!

Today, the moral arc of the universe was bent, once again, towards justice, because of you and your constant persistent pressure. Your phone calls, your activism, pressured enough Senate Republicans to say that Graham Cassidy could not pass. #WeKilledTheBill
Still, the fight to protect the Affordable Care Act is not over. The budget will be yet another assault on healthcare, defunding ACA advertising and more! We’re also aware that the ACA isn’t the answer to every healthcare issue; there are still far too many people, who make too much money, to get the subsidies that make coverage affordable, but too little, to actually afford to pay for coverage on their own. We must continue to look long-term towards enacting a single-payer system that puts healthcare in reach of every American!

Join us for the previously planned healthcare actions that will now pivot to #DACA and move forward on holding Sen. Pat Toomey’s AND his donors, like PPL, accountable, for his commitment to gutting our education budget to fund deportations of immigrant families.

Graham-Cassidy Fight!

On 9/28 we are joining with #paresist to defend Healthcare. Visit http://bit.ly/928acaaction to find an action near you!

The future of healthcare can be decided in less than 4 days, and so we must go all in to show the house and senate that they can not get away with taking healthcare from millions of our people. We will resist, and we will win.

This coming Thursday, September 28th #paresist coalition has organized a statewide day of action, “Prescription for Commonsense.” We must ensure that our Representatives see, hear, and feel that the movement that swamped phone lines, shut down offices, and stopped multiple versions of these bills is still here, and we’re not going anywhere. There will be over 17 actions statewide, and we must do everything we can to mobilize for them with all our might. The complete list of 9/28 actions can be found here: http://bit.ly/928acaaction

What we need you to do:

– Show Up!!

– Visit the Facebook pages listed on http://bit.ly/pa928savehealthcare and share them through your social media networks. Use the share feature to also invite you Facebook friends directly!!

This is not a time for holding back, we need everyone to do all they can to help build these actions. Even if a Senate vote happens before 9/28, they must still get the house to vote by 9/30.

We can stop them, but we must keep our foot on the gas!!

Below are talking points for the Graham-Cassidy-Heller bill:

This is the worst Trumpcare bill yet: Americans have repeatedly rejected every other version of Trumpcare — and this bill goes even further to cut millions off from insurance and access to basic care, including birth control, cancer screenings, and maternity care.

Graham-Cassidy-Heller “defunds” Planned Parenthood by preventing Medicaid reimbursements for necessary preventative care, including cancer screenings, birth control, and STD testing and treatment. This is deeply, deeply unpopular with the public, and was the motivating factor for Sens. Murkowski and Collins to oppose previous Trumpcare bills.

It slashes Medicaid and ends the Medicaid expansions, resulting in millions losing coverage. It ends nationwide protections for maternity coverage and other basic care for women. Under this bill, whether or not a woman has coverage for maternity care or prescription drugs depends on where she lives. Thirteen million women could lose coverage to maternity care under this bill. It also allows insurance companies to charge people with pre-existing condition exorbitant premiums. And it raises premiums on millions by eliminating the tax credits that help middle class families pay for health care.

All of these impacts fall the heaviest on low-income families, people of color, and other people on the margins, and the result will be deadly.

The decision to ram this bill through within the next two weeks, despite not knowing anything about the impact (no CBO score) makes this clear that this isn’t about “fixing” healthcare, it’s about stripping healthcare from those who need it to fund more tax breaks for the wealthy.

Women’s Convention – Reclaiming Our Time

COBO CENTER | DETROIT | OCTOBER 27-29, 2017

We are the leaders we have been waiting for.

The Women’s Convention will bring thousands of women, femmes and our allies of all backgrounds to Detroit from October 27 – 29, 2017, for a weekend of workshops, strategy sessions, inspiring forums and intersectional movement building to continue the preparation going into the 2018 midterm elections.

Tapping into the power of women in leadership as the fundamental, grassroots force for change, the Women’s Convention will bring together first time activists and movement leaders, rising political stars that reflect our nation’s changing demographics, and thousands of women who’ve organized sister marches, huddles, rallies and resistance actions, large and small, since January 2017.

Participants will leave inspired and motivated, with new connections, skills and strategies for working towards collective liberation for women of all races, ethnicities, ages, disabilities, sexual identities, gender expressions, immigration statuses, religious faiths, and economic statuses.

The Women’s Convention is the beginning of a political groundswell, showing that the rise of the woman IS the rise of the nation.

#DaringDiscussions

A conversation occurred on this Women’s March Facebook page last night. It centered around the race of those who post. The poster then deleted it, which is a shame.  It’s important to have these #DaringDiscussions.  If the truth is being posted, the race behind it shouldn’t matter. The question was asked because someone felt discomfort. A threat to their privilege. We need to address and confront our own privilege, racism, and bias at every turn in order to crush it systemically. If you are hearing this for the first time, the information below will help you have open dialogue on race. Our national Women’s March team has created an outlet for these #DaringDiscussions you can have a neighbor gathering, food is a great tool for getting together.  Do it with purpose!

DACA is under attack!!

As you may have heard, there are many signs pointing to DACA’s possible demise this week. Today 6 Republican congressmen sent a letter to the White House defending DACA. None of them were from Pa.

GOP lawmakers urge Trump to keep protections for ‘Dreamers’

We believe securing memebers of the PA congressional delegation could play a key role similar to how AHCA played out.

We have set up an action for people to be connected to their Federal Reps office, (which includes them hearing what to say before being connected), and we are asking that you call and share!

The March to Confront White Supremacy

THE MARCH TO CONFRONT WHITE SUPREMACY – coalition based action including Women’s March

Charlottesville to D.C. 8/28 – 9/6

WE MARCH TO CONFRONT WHITE SUPREMACY

We are marching from Charlottesville to Washington DC to demonstrate our commitment to confronting white supremacy wherever it is found. It’s clear that we can no longer wait for Donald Trump or any elected official to face reality and lead. We are coming together to reckon with America’s long history of white supremacy, so that we can begin to heal the wounds of our nation.

WE MARCH FOR JUSTICE & EQUALITY

For years, white supremacist violence, rhetoric, and policies have escalated and intensified – exploding during Donald Trump’s run for president and reaching a boiling point in Charlottesville, as courageous people of moral conscience stood up to an army of white nationalists, neo-Nazis, and members of the KKK.

This is the time for us to stand up for justice and equality. This is the time to confront white supremacy in our government and throughout our history. We demand that President Trump to be removed from office for allying himself with this ideology of hate and we demand an agenda that repairs the damage it’s done to our country and its people.
